Adam TennerIt is my goal to leave the world better than I found it. I am a social entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience as a leader, working and learning to help organizations create the sustainable impact. I spent most of my early career working on HIV/AIDS and young people. I was all about finding smart ways to rally people and resources to get things done.
For me, meaningful, purpose-driven work is what inspires me. Like Bayard Rustin said, "The proof that one truly believes is in action." I fully understand the stress and joys of running something you care passionately about. And I know the pains that come with growing an organization. Our work is built on models that are proven effective and delivered with a level of personal attention. We don't believe in cookie-cutter solutions. I feel fortunate to have been honored for my work as a Champion of Change by the Obama White House and as the Ryan White Service Award by the National Education Association, in addition to a number of nonprofit leadership awards. And...I also happen to be an award-winning bread baker! I live in Washington, DC with my husband and son. We are a bilingual and bi-cultural family. Except during COVID, we travel most years to visit our family in Buenos Aires. My past board experiences include the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, the DC Alliance for Youth Advocates (now part of DC Action) and the National Youth Advocacy Coalition. |
